Passport Review

Most parents struggle with the idea of talking to their kids about sex. It's challenging to know when and how much to discuss. I have a friend whose young son came in one day and asked, "Dad, where did I come from?" My shocked friend, thinking, "Now's the time", sat his son down and launched into his presentation of "The birds and the bees." Upon completion of his detailed breakdown, his son looked up and said, "So where did I come from? Johnny, across the street, said he came from Detroit."

This taught me a very valuable lesson in regards to talking to children in general: Answer the question, NOT what you think is the question. That has saved us a lot of stress over the years. Yet, there did come the time where we needed to have "The Talk." That's where Passport 2 Purity was such a great help.

The simple idea is a mom and a daughter or a dad and a son go away for the weekend and share an experience of listening to CDs of Dennis and Barbara Rainey talk about a lot of subjects regarding personal purity. It's not just a sex talk, but so much more. What I love is that every lesson has an object lesson for mom or dad to explain with their son or daughter.

Here's a breakdown of the units you cover:
  • Peer Pressure / Choosing Friends Wisely
  • Growing Up (changes in our bodies as we mature)
  • "The Act" and what the Bible teaches about Sex
  • Staying Pure
  • Dating
This is the absolute BEST experience a parent can share with their child. It revolves around communication and honesty. The people I know who have done this talk more about the conversations they had with their child about topics other than sex.

Using P2P requires a little preparation. You need to listen to the CD before you take your trip and there are materials you need to purchase for the object lessons.

I strongly encourage you to consider this product.
